‘Kaamuki’ is the Malayalam film full of sentiments and suspense, set in the backdrop of a campus. Just like the punch line in the movie which goes, ‘Love is blind,’ there is a burning glow of love within all of us. It us ear and divine – this is what the film tries to portray.
Kaamuki directed by Binu Sasidharan, narrates the story of Achamma Varghese, a girl born in an autorickshaw, who feels that love is just for entertainment. The film portrays the life of Achamma, called Achu, from her birth to her MSW days in Sree Sankara College, Kalady.
Aparna Balamurali has rendered a memorable performance as Achamma in the movie. Baiju has also rendered a notable performance in the role of Achamma’s father.
The striking performances of Aparna and Baiju are the highlights in the movie. A weak script, dramatic dialogues and dragging presentations are the major drawbacks of the film. The climax reminds us of watching a tearful serial.
The cinematography is handled by Rowin Baskar and the editing is by Sudhi Madison. The flaws in editing interrupts the flow of the film. The music by the duo Gopi Sunder and Harinarayanan is very good.
