Raid Hindi Movie Review & Rating | Ajay Devgn, Ileana D’Cruz

‘Raid’ is the latest Hindi film which is directed by Raj Kumar Gupta and has Ajay Devgan in the lead. ‘Raid’ is an extremely good thriller movie with an ultimate suspense.
In 1980s, especially during the tenure of Indira Gandhi, numerous income raids were conducted all over the country. The backdrop of the film’s plot is based on these IT raids, which hooked several biggies at that time.

The story is fictional, as addressed in the initial parts of the film. However, the film reflects the IT raids of the 80s and can be told as a creative transformation of that period.
The story of the film takes place in the year 1981. The story is shown to take place in Lucknow. Amay Patnaik is the Income Tax Deputy Commissioner there. Amay has been married only recently. Amay had been subjected to around 49 transfers within two years of his career. The reason behind this is obviously his uncompromising attitude towards corruption and utmost sincerity in his service.

Whichever places Amay had served before, he had indulged in several sensational raids and have trapped various big shots in the process. Consequently, he earned a lot of foes in the political scenario and also among the corrupt rulers.

Well, on his 49th transfer, Amay takes charge as the Deputy Commissioner in Lucknow. The situation is no different here. One night, Amay receives an anonymous call and, pursuing the call, he prepares for a major IT raid. The raid and the related turn of events form the theme of the film.

The striking feature of ‘Raid’ is that film does not portray any sort of gimmicks or superhuman acts in it. The film is superbly realistic in its treatment.
Not only this, the composed acting of Ajay Devgan is definitely a highlight of the film. Illeana D’Cruz is the heroine in the film. Illeana plays the role of Amay’s wife, Malini, in the film.

The villain character is handled by the popular actor, Saurabh Shukla. He immortalises the role of Rajaji in the film. Rajaji is one of the most noted characters in Saurabh career.
Other than the main actors, Saanand Verma, Gayathri Iyer, Sheeba Chaddha, and Sulagna Panigraha have also rendered exquisite performances in the film.

This is a small budget film. This film demonstrates how a fine film can be made within a small budget. This film has scored very well in the box office as per the collection reports.
Ritesh Shah has written the story of the film. The screenplay is jointly done by Ritesh Shah and Raj Kumar Gupta. The cinematography is done by Alphonse Roy. The cinematography is commendable.

The music in the film is handled by Amit Trivedi. The background music is above average whereas the songs are just average in the film. The editing is done by Bodhaditya Banerjee.
The film is a very good one to watch.
